At the initiative of UNESCO and CEPS (Centre for Studies and Strategic Foresight), an International Forum of Reflection on the Culture of Peace brought together over 150 people and experts from over a dozen nationalities with aims to advance the culture of peace in West Africa.
Côte d\'Ivoire chairing the ECOWAS group within UNESCO has been associated as the backbone for the organization of the event.
This meeting brought together the world economic, political, administrative and many civil society actors.This meeting should serve as a rallying point for a number of panel discussions should take place in 2012 and in 2013 to deepen the platform proposal, the result of these meetings.
The observers were able to appreciate the commitment of the actors and the determination to be truly meaningful and effective. Peace is running, it is expected and desired. UNESCO and CEPS have desired in this spirit combine their talents to this worthy cause.
The delegation was composed of CEPS Edith Cresson, former Prime Minister, Edwige Avice, former minister, Michel Abrogoua, CEO of Phoenix Capital Management and Regional Delegate of CEPS, and Loïc Tribot The Spiere, Managing Director of CEPS .
UNESCO was represented by the Director of Africa Department, Ms Laila Aicha Ben Barka combining the Delegation of Côte d\'Ivoire, led by His Excelllence Denise Houphouet Boigny Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Côte d\'Ivoire to the UNESCO, assisted by Mr. KOUADIO Loukou, First Counsellor at the Delegation of Côte d\'Ivoire to UNESCO.
