Participation of H.E. Mrs. Bakayoko-Ly Ramata in the Training Workshop of the Learning City Coordination Committee of Dimbokro

On December 11, 2024, H.E. Mrs. Bakayoko-Ly Ramata, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Côte d’Ivoire to UNESCO, participated online in a training workshop for the Learning City Coordination Committee of Dimbokro, organized at the FAMAH Institute in Abidjan.

Held under the theme "Preparing the Application to Join UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities", the workshop had several objectives, including:

• Training the members of the Coordination Committee on the network’s criteria and requirements;
• Strengthening their capacity to collect and analyze the data necessary for the application;
• Developing an inclusive strategy that highlights Dimbokro’s strengths.

In her address, the Ambassador emphasized that Dimbokro’s application aligns with the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
• SDG 4, which promotes inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all;
• SDG 11, which aims to make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

The Ambassador noted that through this application, the city of Dimbokro demonstrates its commitment to making lifelong learning a reality for its inhabitants while serving as an inspiring model for other Ivorian communities. She also commended the Mayor of Dimbokro, Mr. Adama Coulibaly, Minister of Budget and Finance, for his dedication to inclusive education through lifelong learning, which is essential for fostering sustainable urban development.

H.E. Mrs. Bakayoko-Ly Ramata further encouraged the members of the Committee to fully commit to this ambitious and promising initiative for the city of Dimbokro, as it could provide an opportunity to mobilize resources and strengthen social cohesion.

Finally, the Ambassador highlighted that the Global Network of Learning Cities serves as a platform for sharing experiences focused on quality education, social inclusion, and innovation. She expressed her gratitude to the Minister of National Education and Literacy, Professor Koné Mariatou, for her continued support of Ivorian cities applying to the network.
