UNESCO / Côte d'Ivoire at the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport

Côte d'Ivoire was elected to the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS) at the end of the 42nd session of UNESCO's General Conference, held from November 7 to 22, 2023.
This body, whose mission is, among other things, to promote physical education and sport policies and programs and to safeguard the ethical values of physical education and sport, was created in 1978 and is made up of experts in the field of physical education and sport from 18 UNESCO member states, each elected for a four-year term.
Côte d'Ivoire will be represented on the Committee by Doctor Serge Alain AYEKOE, whose candidacy was put forward by the Permanent Delegation of Côte d'Ivoire to UNESCO.
Dr Serge Alain AYEKOE is a specialist in Sports Economics and Management and a teacher-researcher at the Institut National de la Jeunesse et des Sports (INJS). His research interests include the evaluation of the socio-economic consequences of sporting events at local and global levels, the impact of sports facilities on sustainable development, and modes of governance in relation to the overall performance of sports organizations.
He is also Head of Research in Science and Technology of Physical and Sports Activities (STAPS) at the INJS in Côte d'Ivoire, and Deputy National Delegate of the International Federation of Physical Education (FIEP).
