The political and military crisis that the country experienced between 2002 and 2011 put a brake on the active efforts undertaken by Côte d'Ivoire for many years to identify the elements of the intangible cultural heritage present in its territory and In particular through the interruption of certain violently repressed practices or the distortion of certain elements, draining them of their traditional social values ​​and functions.

In this context, a project to draw up an inventory of the intangible cultural heritage present in Côte d'Ivoire with a view to its urgent safeguarding and valorisation as one of the major axes for the consolidation of peace and the sustainable stabilization of the Under the National Social Cohesion Program, is implemented from December 2015 to March 2018. The inventory will enable the initiation of a national strategy for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage aimed at creating synergy between the various stakeholders, An assessment of the viability of the intangible cultural heritage, undertake advocacy, awareness-raising, promotion and promotion of this heritage and strengthen the capacity for its safeguarding.
