Elected at the 38th session of the General Conference of Unesco held in November 2015 at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Paris, Côte d'Ivoire Has since participated in many activities.

As a reminder, it was a striking victory for Cote d'Ivoire, which was manifested by the announcement of the election to the executive board of the UN agency on Wednesday 11 November 2015, with a score of 101 votes recorded on A total of about 165 voters, for five candidate countries (Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana and Niger) and only two places available for the West African subregion.

This election is the result of a set of factors, namely a fruitful networking of the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire to UNESCO, without neglecting the satisfactory relations maintained between Mrs. Kandia Camara, National Education and Technical Education (MENET) with its UNESCO peers, or a successful regional coordination between the Ivorian National Commission of UNESCO and all the African National Commissions, As well as a historic meeting of the Secretaries-General of African National Commissions in Abidjan in 2012, with the presence of the Director-General of UNESCO, Mrs IRINA BOKOVA and all her assistants!

This election represents, after all, a symbol of Côte d'Ivoire's return to the world diplomatic scene after the long crisis that it went through until 2011.
