The 2012 Triennial of Education and Training in Africa is held from February 13 to 17, 2012 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. This edition focused on:

\"How To promote knowledge, skills and critical skills for sustainable development in Africa: how to build / design an effective system of education and training?\"

The triennial ADEA (formerly biennials) are a highlight in the life and activities of the association.

Their main objective is to encourage and support an open dialogue between ministers of education, development agencies, and other experts working in the field of education. Because it helps define the future activities of the association, this dialogue is vital for ADEA, because the dialogue is one way that can sow the seeds of understanding and progress

ADEA has held since 1993 continental meetings, known as biennials, on the theme of development of education and training. Following the Maputo Biennale in 2008, the ADEA Steering Committee decided that these meetings would be held every three years now, hence the name of triennial.

The 2012 Triennial pursue and develop the political dialogue in previous biennials, and especially that of Maputo in 2008 on the theme of post-primary education. More specifically, the Triennale 2012 will focus on efforts to find answers to the following question:

Promote the knowledge, skills and critical skills for sustainable development in Africa: how to build / design an effective system of education and training?
